You may be asking yourself…… Why is she soooo excited over retiring items???  Doesn’t she realize that means we’ll be losing some of our favorite things??  Well…..I’m glad you asked.  Yes it is sad to say g’bye to some things we love, but it also means that the NEW CATALOG is just around the corner!!  Who can be disappointed about that???   Just like with the color renovation, while it’s sad to lose certain colors, seeing the new yummy colors really made up for it!  They work so much nicer together, the collections are more updated, and I think they’ll be so much easier to use and coordinate now.  So while their may be some retiring things we’ll miss, I’ve found that SU never really disappoints.  When I see all the new goodies in the new catalog, it’s almost like falling in love with stamping all over again.

Just a reminder before I post the lists.  (to the best of my knowledge)

Stamps may be ordered the entire month of June.  Wheels and accessories are first come, first served, and the list of sold out items changes daily, so the best way to order these is to call me with a credit card or debit card so we can do the order right then.

Please note the reconfigured column on the retiring accessories list!!! This is something new.  Not everything on the accessories list is actually retiring. Because of the new colors, things like pastels, markers, inks and card stock are being reconfigured.  Example: the full case of markers is on the retiring accessories list.  We are NOT retiring the markers, but some colors of markers will retire.  The full case will be reconfigured to have all the new colors in it.  The same for watercolor crayons, craft stampin spots etc.  We also have a new punch style, and in the new catalog all the punches will be in the new style.  So all the punches are listed since THAT STYLE is retiring but only about 6 punches will actually be gone.  The rest will be available in the new style.  If there is an asterisk in the reconfigured column….that item is staying but will be different somehow. So don’t freak out over 11 pages of retiring items.  lol

Announcing a Color Renovation that will take place with the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog that will premier July 1st, 2010.  SU has spent nearly two years researching and designing a color renovation.  Since color is such a vital element of crafting, we know it’s important to stay up with current trends.  This is what spawned the In Color program a few years ago, but now we realize it’s time for a more permanent change.  Change can be difficult, and while I was less than thrilled when I first heard this news, I’m now totally on board since I’ve had a few days to digest it.  My misgivings centered around a few colors that I will truly miss, but I know that SU has and will continue to come out with colors that I will fall in love with!!  Colors have also been rearranged into 4 collections of 1o colors each, so we’ll have 40 core colors now.  This makes them so much easier to use since they now work so much better with each other!!  Some of the brights were too bright, and some of the subtles were too subtle, now I think all collections are fabulous and I hope you’ll agree.  If you don’t love it immediately, give it a few days.  lol

We’ll now have 40 colors consisting of 25 current colors, 10 colors that were previously In Colors — Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry, Riding Hood Red, River Rock, Soft Suede, Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi, and 5 brand new colors — Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso. Crumb Cake sounds like a new color, but is actually a renamed version of Kraft. How fantastic to finally have Kraft ink!  I’m also super excited to have Wild Wasabi back as a core color.

SU realizes this is drastic, but is making this as easy as possible by offering kits to complete your collections.  If you already own say the markers and pastels, you will be able to purchase only the NEW colors of these items, and you’ll get new inserts for your cases!!  I’m super thrilled about this.

There will be 5 new In Colors each year, and they will be available for 2 years now instead of only 1.  After this first year, we’ll have 10 In Colors as they add 5 more the next year.  Yippeeee.

The sad part is, that with all the new yummy stuff, we do have to say g’bye to some that we may sorely miss.  This is a very large list, but I’ve found most of them I don’t use much anyway and won’t miss a bit.  I do have a few favorites on there, that I may shed a tear or two over, but by announcing this so early, SU has given us ample time to stock up if we decide we want to do that.    If you would like to stock up on some favorites, they are guaranteed available through the end of May.  In June, it will be first come first served, so be sure to get them before that.    Click    on this flyer to see a large photo of all retiring colors.  The Colors we’ll be saying good bye to are:

Although you may not know it since i’ts been over 2 months since I’ve posted.  This has been a crazy time for us.  I will try to do better, but not sure how well I’ll do for awhile.  First a bit about what’s been going on, then a couple of cards made with Stampin’ Up’s new digital paper crafting solution, My Digital Studio (MDS).

My son has not deployed and I’m very thankful for that.  He had to have surgery nearly a month ago, and is healing well, but isn’t there yet.  The surgery went very well, and he should be fine, it’s just a long recovery process.

We are also going to be moving about 3 hrs from here in a couple of months.  He’s taken a job in a town just outside Dallas, so we’ll be moving to that area soon.  It will take awhile though to wrap up everything here and save enough to actually move.  Getting everything ready will be slow going also as I can’t do too much at a time.   I’m sad at the thought of leaving our church and family and friends here, but we believe this is the direction God is leading us, so all will be fine.

Now on to some cards.  As I said these were made with SU’s new digital program MDS.  This software program is amazing.  It is loaded with 100′s of stamps, a lot of designer paper, ribbon, hodgepodge hardware, all sorts of embellishments.  It has designed templates you can change or you can create your own.  You can make cards, scrapbook pages, calendars, and much more.  You can print it yourself, send your projects by email, turn them into DVD movies, or have it professionally printed through SU so you are sure to get exact colors.  I have sent both of these cards off to be professionally printed, so if you’re in the area and would like to see them in person give me a call and I will let you know when I receive them.  I just sent them in today, so I should have them in about a week I’m guessing.

This is the first one I did and the neatest thing is, I don’t own these particular stamps.  Well I do have the Baroque Motifs that I used at the top for the swirl, but I don’t have Winter Post which is the set the deer came from.  I don’t have the DSP I used either, but with MDS I have all these things and can create them digitally.  You can even do a hybrid project.  Don’t want to do it all digitally but don’t have a dsp or stamp that you want to use?  Design that part digitally, print it off, then add your own hardware, ribbon or other embellishments.

This is the second one that I did.  We even have punches like this butterfly punch, then you can fill that with the color you want, and even add the polka dot dsp.  I was even able to make it look like I’d stamped on the ribbon.  How kewl is that??  The program doesn’t currently have the cottage wall dsp, and that is my favorite, but I was able to use various stamps to make something very similar to the cottage wall dsp and I used that at the bottom.  If you’d like to see this program in action, give me a call and we can schedule a time that you can come over and see how it works.  Since I don’t have a laptop  you’ll have to come to my house to see it.  Hope all is well with everyone reading this.  God Bless you all, and I’ll try to do better about posting.  Please bear with me.

First I want to let you know that SU is beginning to focus on having specials that last a bit longer.  I’m thrilled about this.  Many times the timing of a special just didn’t fit into my budget.  lol   This particular hostess special has two parts.

Part One:  September 1st to November 30, 2009, host a workshop of 250.00* or more and receive almost any item in the Holiday Mini Catalog for only 10.00  This does not include hostess sets or My Digital Studio.  But it does include some big ticket items like the movers and shapers dies etc.

Part Two:  October 1st to November 30th, 2009, host a workshop of 400.00* or more and you will be able to get the My Digital Studio (MDS) for 1/2 price!!  From everything I’ve seen about this software, it is absolutely amazing.  See my post before this one for more information about MDS.
